Apple has confirmed a major delay to the smarter Siri experience it promised back in 2024. The much-hyped upgrade won’t arrive until 2026, as the in-house AI architecture didn’t meet Apple’s high reliability standards.

šŸ› ļø Why the delay?

Apple’s software chief Craig Federighi admitted the earlier version ā€œjust doesn’t work reliably enough to be an Apple product.ā€ The company was juggling two different AI architectures — one legacy, one new — and together, they proved unstable.

Despite demos at WWDC 2024 that showcased personalized Siri capable of reading flight times from emails and calendars, the features were never shipped. They didn’t make it into iPhone 16 or iOS 18 updates, frustrating both insiders and users.
