Apple can surprise but I don’t believe the Apple foldable phone will be out this year because I don’t believe Apple is ready. Also, $2,000+ is too much for a phone in general, let alone a foldable. I’d love a foldable iPhone but not at the price predicted.

Outstanding breakdown of why the crease-free hinge is the real gamechanger here. You nailed the insight that Apple's strategy isn't about being first but about setting teh defenitive standard once they enter. What's fascinating is how the $2000+ pricepoint positions this as a halo product that can afford to canibalize both iPhone Pro Max and iPad Mini sales because it reframes customer expectations for the entire category. The engineering validation timing suggests they're betting big that 2026 is when foldables finally escape the early adopter trap.
