Apple Debuts the iPhone Pocket With ISSEY MIYAKE
A limited-edition accessory that combines Apple’s technology with ISSEY MIYAKE’s innovative design, offering a stylish and versatile way to carry your iPhone and everyday essentials.
Apple has once again blended high fashion with high tech, unveiling the iPhone Pocket, a limited-edition accessory created in collaboration with the renowned Japanese fashion house ISSEY MIYAKE. Reminiscent of the iconic iPod Sock, this new 3D-knitted carrier redefines how you carry your daily essentials. It’s a bold statement piece that merges utility with avant-garde design, signaling Apple’s continued push into the world of fashion-forward tech accessories.
This isn’t just a case; it’s a wearable pocket designed to hold an iPhone, AirPods, and other small items. The launch taps into a shared philosophy between the two brands, one that celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity, and user delight.

A Fusion of Design and Functionality
The iPhone Pocket is crafted from a stretchy, ribbed, elastic textile that forms an elongated strap. Its open-structure knit fully encloses the iPhone while still allowing you to glimpse the display. According to ISSEY MIYAKE’s design director, Yoshiyuki Miyamae, the accessory is inspired by the simple concept of “a piece of cloth,” exploring the joy of wearing and carrying an iPhone in a personal, expressive way. This collaboration feels particularly fitting, given that ISSEY MIYAKE’s founder, the late Issey Miyake, was the designer behind Steve Jobs’ iconic black mock-turtleneck.
The iPhone Pocket is designed for versatility and can be worn handheld, tied onto a bag, or carried directly on the body. It’s a functional accessory that also serves as a fashion statement.
Molly Anderson, Apple’s vice president of Industrial Design, noted, “This clever extra pocket exemplifies those ideas and is a natural accompaniment to our products. The color palette of iPhone Pocket was intentionally designed to mix and match with all our iPhone models and colors — allowing users to create their own personalized combination.”
Colors, Pricing, and Availability
Apple is offering the iPhone Pocket in two distinct versions to suit different styles and needs:
Short Strap: Available for $149.95 in eight vibrant colors: lemon, mandarin, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black.
Long Strap: Priced at $229.95 and available in three more subdued colors: sapphire, cinnamon, and black.
Both strap lengths are designed to fit any iPhone model, ensuring wide compatibility across Apple’s lineup. The intentionally curated color palette encourages users to mix and match, creating personalized combinations that complement their device and personal style.
This limited-edition release will be available starting November 14 on Apple’s online store in the U.S., UK, France, Italy, Greater China, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea. For those who prefer an in-person shopping experience, the iPhone Pocket will also be sold at 10 flagship Apple Store locations worldwide, including Apple SoHo in New York, Apple Regent Street in London, and Apple Ginza in Tokyo.
A Modern Take on a Classic Idea
The iPhone Pocket is a clear nod to the past, specifically the beloved iPod Sock from 2004, but reimagined for the modern user. It blends nostalgia with contemporary fashion, creating an accessory that appeals to both long-time Apple fans and style-conscious consumers. While the premium pricing may position it as a niche product, its unique design and the prestige of the ISSEY MIYAKE collaboration make it a desirable collector’s item.
For Apple, it’s another step in positioning its products not just as tools, but as integral parts of a user’s lifestyle and personal expression.
